From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free. - Jacques Yves Cousteau.

SAFARI TEAM DIG TO CHINA - PART III is the third and final installment of the teamís treacherous journey through the centre of the earth. After pummeling magma, swimming through lava, battling colossal squids and rowing the silver seas, the team presents their epic tale in a full video installation.

Three nom de plume explorers Pipe, Wings & Violet, dive, smash and DIG their way through crust and core. Guided by maps concocted from myths of what lies beneath, around and above the earths surface. The work explores the accidental doctoring of history by the brains desire to imagine.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.

Dig To China - Part III is showing at West Space, Melbourne in 2009.
